Cultural Analysis: The Euros Finals

Stars are born

As the UEFA Euros tournament moved into the final week, we tracked the individual player entities to find out how much people in the UK were reading about them.

The goal-scorers in each match were very popular the day after and in particular we saw newer players such as Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly increase their share of mind.

Nation Holds Its Breath

During the match we tracked what people in the UK were reading about. We saw a peak during half time when people were reading about Ellen White’s missed shot and wondering what had happened to Russo. Then as the match went into extra-time the nation held its breath, there was no time for reading. After full time people started reading about their new stars, Beth Mead (player of the match) and the charismatic Millie Bright.
